Libraries

“There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world.
Love of books is the best of all.”

At The Somaiya School, our libraries are not just repositories of books. They are vibrant learning hubs that support inquiry, imagination, and independent thinking. We are proud to house two well-equipped libraries, thoughtfully designed to serve as dynamic environments that foster the four essential 21st-century skills: Collaboration, Communication, Creativity, and Critical Thinking in all students from kindergarten to Grade 12.

The Primary Library is a welcoming and age-appropriate space where younger students are introduced to the joy of reading through picture books, early readers, storytelling sessions, and guided reading activities. It lays the foundation for information literacy and supports the development of vocabulary, comprehension, and imagination.

Our Secondary School Library is an award-winning space, recognised as a Trailblazer Library by BSLA 2019 for its progressive approach to learning. With curated resources, flexible reading zones, digital tools, and access to diverse genres, the library empowers students to research, reflect, and express ideas independently or in groups.

Across both libraries, students engage in a wide range of activities – book discussions, author interactions, research projects, multimedia exploration, and independent study. All students have access to digital resources of Somaiya Vidyavihar University to navigate and evaluate information effectively in a tech-integrated environment.

Our libraries are integral to the school’s academic and co-curricular fabric, promoting a culture of reading, inquiry, and lifelong learning. They reflect our belief that a well-used library shapes thoughtful, empathetic, and empowered individuals ready to thrive in the world beyond school.
