Building Identity, Spirit, and Belonging
At The Somaiya School, the House System is an integral part of school life, designed to foster a strong sense of identity, teamwork, and healthy competition. Every student is assigned to one of five houses, with efforts made to ensure an equal distribution of students across all houses.
The houses are named after iconic wildlife species and inspired by India’s national parks, reflecting our deep respect for nature and diversity:
GIR LIONS
Mighty, Courageous, Fearless
The Gir lions symbolize bravery and leadership, and this house thrives on fearless ambition and leaving a lasting impact.
PERIYAR ELEPHANTS
Wisdom, Power, Perseverance
The majestic elephants of Periyar, this house stands for intelligence, resilience, and unwavering determination to forge ahead.
KANHA TIGERS
Brave, Relentless, Invincible
The fearless tigers of Kanha, this house embodies strength, agility, and the power of teamwork to overcome any challenge.
HEMIS SNOW LEOPARD
Silent. Swift. Unstoppable.
The elusive snow leopards of Hemis, this house values precision, adaptability, and the ability to conquer even the toughest terrains.
KAZIRANGA RHINOS
Unstoppable, Bold, Unshaken
The one-horned rhinos of Kaziranga stand strong against all odds, this house represents endurance, courage, and an indomitable will.
These houses participate in a range of inter-house events – academic, cultural, and athletic – encouraging students to take initiative, lead with integrity, and collaborate across age groups. This system builds camaraderie and school spirit that lasts beyond the classroom.
