Experiential Learning

The Somaiya School views learning as an active journey – one where students gain insight by engaging directly with their environment. Rather than passively absorbing information, students explore, interact, and reflect, turning experiences into lasting understanding.

Our approach is shaped by the Somaiya Center for Experiential Learning (SCEL), which integrates principles from various educational perspectives such as constructivism, place-based learning, and service engagement. The focus is on creating rich, hands-on experiences that not only build knowledge but also strengthen emotional and practical awareness.

Experiential learning moves beyond traditional instruction. It encourages learners to make sense of the world through:

  • First-hand exploration and inquiry
  • Activities that stimulate all the senses
  • Experiences that provoke thought and inspire compassion
  • Opportunities to apply learning in meaningful, real-life contexts

By combining intellectual, emotional, and physical engagement, this approach fosters curiosity, resilience, and a genuine connection to what is being learned. In doing so, it cultivates a sense of purpose and encourages students to apply their knowledge in ways that matter, both within the classroom and beyond.

CRED Talk - Cool, Radical, Enthusiastic, Divergent!

CRED Talk empowers students from Grade 1 to 12 to speak their minds, explore ideas, and present topics that intrigue them. From Mountaineering and AI to Through research and short presentations, they build confidence, critical thinking, and communication skills, embracing the Somaiya spirit of expressive, independent learning.
